Origins Coffee was a project to design an online presence for an artisan coffee roasters based in Dublin. The project required market research to inform the design which included a logo and website build without the use of any frameworks or libraries. The result of this project was a fully responsive website, infromed content and a logo brand.
The process consisted of conducting market research into the domain. Trends and aesthetics were observed within the sites domain and wider coffee themed industry. Competitors were analysed and assessed from which a general theme was derived. Minimalistic, muted colours and strong imagery were often observed amongst the market.
There were a number of inspirations for Origin's logo, one of which was that of Starbucks whose use of round shapes draw the eye in and further added green for contrast, portraying their environmentally friendly nature. Other forms of inspiration came from independent coffee brands such as; Parralel Coffee and Seven Virtues.
These brands offered a more simple design from which the idea for Origins was drawn from. Both being Artisan, independent coffee brands, maintaining a two colour feature to the logo. From this research it was decided that Origins would need a simple and striking brand.
Following my early research and having my sitemap and wireframes completed, I then began the site build. Below are the final designs for the core pages of the Origins website.
